Bamboo Feed & Toss Bowl: At first glance, I was put off by the Feed &Toss Disposable Bowl System by Bamboo. Our throw-away society doesn’t need any more waste.

The brightly colored bowl, which comes in pink and white, green and white, or blue and white is attractive enough, with a cute bone motif on the sides. It comes with two clear plastic liners (additional ones can be purchased separately) that sit inside it. After feeding, the liners can be tossed. The benefits, according to the manufacturer, are a bowl that’s bacteria- and odor-free and presents no risk of spreading germs to family members through contamination of household cleaning brushes and sponges. The manufacturer suggests using one liner per week for water or dry food; two liners per week for wet food.

I’ll rely on my dishwasher’s cleaning ability to keep my dogs’ dishes sanitary, but for pet owners with impaired immune systems or those who travel frequently with their dogs, the disposable bowl could come in handy. The liners aren’t biodegradable, but they are recyclable, so you can still do your bit for the environment.

The Bamboo Feed & Toss Disposable Bowl System retails for $9.99 (refill liners are available for $4.99 for a pack of six liners) and are available from pet retail supply outlets. Call: (877) 224-PETS (7387).

Our vet actually recommends disposable feeding and drinking dishes for our bacterial infection prone miniature pinscher. The refill liners are much better than paper plates as the dog does not try to eat them like he does with dixie bowls. Easy to use but a bit pricey.

I think they are great, much easier to use.
